…. mmm, I don’t know how to start. May I start to tell you about my thoughts about electronic music today. The difference between the new electronic music and the rave in the early nineties is mainly the variety of instruments used. Rave included a huge range of instruments, for example some choir sounds, pianos, acid basslines, orchestra brasses or something else. I wanna remember to some compilations like Mayday 1994 - Rave Olympia or the Rave Base Compilations, in which each song was different, so it was a really great experience to listen to it. Every time you have discovered something new. I also think, at this time the artists used their own creativity. It was really exciting to listen to #Westbam, #Marusha, #RaversNature, #Hardsequencer, #DjHooligan, #RMB, #MembersOfMayday ….
Todays electronic music is more and more the same. If there is one artist, who has created some new stuff or kind of style with new influences, nearly every other artist would make the same thing, same style, same instruments. This is really boring! Today nearly every CD Compilation includes the same stuff. If you listen to one of its included songs, maybe you heared the entire CD.
I am one part of the voters for the official German Dance Charts (DDC) and I’m getting new stuff everyday. But so many songs are simply the boring same thing. Same instruments, same structure, sometimes even the same melody. It lets me create the thoughts, that lots of the “artists” or “producers” only wanna make money on the easiest way.
But I have to ask you out there:
IS THIS THE NATURE OF MUSIC?…”
What do you think?
